Personalized Therapies from a Team of Experts
Our compassionate treatment team and our enriched environment make our residential treatment program an unforgettable setting for you to get the drug and alcohol treatment that you need. Our detox and residential programs are built on a strong foundation around hope, support, and engagement.
The therapeutic models that we offer at Compass Recovery are individualized around your unique needs. We do not take a one-size-fits-all approach to treating addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions. Your journey is unique, and your therapeutic sessions will focus on your specific needs.
Our counselors and providers specialize in certain therapeutic models. The therapeutic models that we offer at Compass Recovery include the following.
CBT: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or CBT, is a form of psychotherapy that helps individuals shift the way they think about problems and emotions. This is particularly effective as a form of trauma therapy, in which individuals learn to heal and grow from traumatic experiences.
DBT: Dialectical Behavior Therapy
Dialectical Behavior Therapy, or DBT, is an effective therapeutic modality for those struggling with mood disorders, self-harm, and substance abuse. DBT focuses on rewiring negative thought patterns and developing positive behavior patterns.
ERP: Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy
ERP is good for helping individuals desensitize themselves, their bodies, and their reactions to certain stimuli, places, or “triggers.” Exposure therapies work by helping a person become more and more desensitized to certain things or situations that may otherwise “trigger” them.
Pre-EMDR: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy
We can prepare individuals to start EMDR therapy once they leave our residential program in Orange County. During treatment at Compass Recovery, your therapist will work on coping and desensitization techniques as preparation. We understand that detox and residential treatment may not be the most appropriate time to begin EMDR. However, we know that this is effective when the time is right. EMDR is an interactive type of therapy beneficial to individuals who struggle with a severe traumatic experience or a form of post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD.
Experiential therapy is complementary to talk therapy. Clients heal through connection, expression, and processing outside of conversation with therapists. The types of experiential therapies that we offer include:
LIFE Systems Biofeedback Therapy
This cutting-edge, evidence-based, and FDA-approved therapy is effective in treating co-occurring depression and anxiety along with addiction. This is a form of biofeedback that helps with stress management and muscle relaxation. These are two vital components to successful relapse prevention. Each session is completely individualized to the needs of the client.
