Compass Recovery
Insurance and Cost

Insurance Benefits Verification for Addiction Treatment

Coverage varies by plan, authorization, medical necessity, facility, and level of care. Compass Recovery's admissions team can contact your insurer and explain the benefit information it provides before you make a treatment decision.

Important: A benefits check is informational and is not a guarantee of coverage, authorization, admission, or payment. Do not rely on a payer logo or general statement to determine your individual benefits.

Request a confidential benefits check

Send your details and admissions will follow up to discuss what information is needed and what your insurer reports.

This form is not for emergencies. If someone is in immediate danger, call 911. For a mental health crisis, call or text 988.

Plans we can verify

Select a plan for more detail

Admissions can verify benefits with these insurers and with many others. Participation and coverage depend on the specific plan, facility, and service, so a plan appearing below does not by itself determine your individual benefits.

Private pay

Paying for treatment without involving an insurer

Some families choose to pay for treatment directly rather than bill a health plan. People usually do this for one of three reasons: the plan is out of network, the authorized length of stay is shorter than the clinical recommendation, or they prefer that treatment not generate a record with their insurer.

No authorization reviews

Length of stay follows the clinical recommendation rather than an insurer's continued stay decision.

A single written figure

Admissions provides a written quote covering what the program rate includes and what sits outside it.

Possible later reimbursement

Some out of network plans reimburse a portion after the fact. We can supply an itemized statement, though any decision rests with the insurer.

If we are not the right fit

We can still point you somewhere that is

Not everyone who contacts us can be treated here. Sometimes the coverage does not match, sometimes the clinical need is outside what we provide, and sometimes the timing or location is wrong. None of that is a reason to send someone away with nothing.

What we cannot accept

  • Medicare. Compass Recovery is not a Medicare provider.
  • Medi-Cal. We are not a Medi-Cal provider. California residents on Medi-Cal can also contact their county behavioral health department directly.
  • Care outside our scope. Some medical or psychiatric needs require a hospital-based program rather than a residential facility.

How a referral works

  • Tell us your situation, coverage, and location using the form.
  • Our admissions team looks for licensed programs that may fit.
  • We send you names and contact details, usually within one business day.
  • You take it from there. Nothing is owed and nothing is expected.
Medi-Cal and Medicare. Compass Recovery is not currently contracted with Medi-Cal or Medicare. We do not want that to be where your search stops. Email us at admissions@compass-recovery.com or submit the form, and our team will connect you with a licensed provider in your area that accepts your coverage. There is no cost and no obligation.
No money changes hands. Compass Recovery does not pay for referrals and does not accept payment, commission, or any other consideration from the programs we refer to.

Request a referral

Tell us what coverage you have and where you are located, and we will point you toward licensed programs that may be able to help. There is no cost and no obligation.

Common questions

Insurance verification questions

Does Compass Recovery accept insurance?
Compass Recovery can verify benefits with an insurer. Participation, coverage, authorization, and cost depend on the specific plan and service. Contact admissions for current information about your plan.
Does verification guarantee that my treatment will be covered?
No. A benefits check reports what the insurer states at the time of the inquiry. Coverage, authorization, and payment decisions remain with the insurer and are subject to plan terms, medical necessity, eligibility, and exclusions at the time services are provided.
What information is needed for a benefits check?
Typically the member's name and date of birth, the member ID and group number shown on the insurance card, the name of the insurer, and the policyholder's details if different from the person seeking treatment. Admissions will tell you if anything further is required.
Will a benefits check commit me to treatment?
No. Verification is informational. Many people ask about benefits well before they are ready to make a decision, and there is no obligation to admit.
Can you tell me my exact out-of-pocket cost?
Not with certainty. Admissions can explain the deductible, copay, and coinsurance the insurer reports at the time of the inquiry. Final cost depends on the services actually provided, length of stay, authorization decisions, and how claims are processed. Treat any exact figure quoted in advance, by any provider, with caution.
What if Compass Recovery is not the right fit?
We will say so, and we can point you toward other licensed programs. Compass Recovery does not accept Medicare or Medi-Cal. Referrals are provided at no cost, and no payment is made or received in connection with them.
What if I would rather not use insurance at all?
Some families pay directly, either because the plan is out of network or because they prefer that treatment not generate a record with their insurer. See our self pay information page, or ask admissions for a written quote.
Do you accept Medi-Cal or Medicare?
We are not currently in network with Medi-Cal or Medicare. Email us at admissions@compass-recovery.com and we will refer you to a licensed program that accepts your plan. There is no cost and no obligation. California residents on Medi-Cal can also contact their county behavioral health department directly.
