Short Biography

Kenny Schaefer is a Certified Addiction Treatment Counselor licensed through the state of
California. He is passionate about his role as Case Manager. As a disabled veteran, Kenny has a
working knowledge of how addiction and PTSD affect our nation’s veterans. After the military,
Kenny received his bachelor’s in Science and Secondary Education from New Mexico State
University. Kenny spent the next 20 years working with “At-Risk” populations, where he
discovered the devastating effects of addiction on children and their families. Kenny realized
that he wanted to do more for these communities, so he acquired a master’s degree in
Curriculum and Instruction through the University of Phoenix and an Addiction Studies
Certification from Cypress College.

Kenny has a great deal of respect, empathy, compassion, and understanding for his clients.
Connection is the key element to his interaction with them. Kenny is very knowledgeable about
a vast array of personal interests and experiences. Clients find it easy to cultivate a deep and
meaningful connection with him as they move into the next season of their recovery journey.
Kenny focuses on creating a relapse prevention plan for each client. Every plan is uniquely
tailored to the client, and Kenny uses their personalities as the secret ingredient to their relapse
prevention master plan.

Kenny has spent more than 8 years working in a dual diagnosis treatment facility and 5 of those
years as a Case Manager. He believes that there is no quick fix for recovery. The process
requires community resources and the combined efforts of many stakeholders. Kenny
challenges clients to go deeper into their recovery work and to develop a healthy daily routine
that balances psychological, emotional, physical, and spiritual needs, and aftercare. Kenny also
knows that finding purpose is a critical part of the recovery process. With appropriate guidance
and the willingness to get better, anyone can achieve a happy, fulfilling life.
